Just bought an expensive camera from amazon - and chose the bundled price of a camera and an SD card.
The camera was £525.00 and the SD card £26.48 and the bundle £550.48. In other words £1 off. Nothing to get excited about but a pound is a pound is a pound.
So I select the bundle and go to checkout - and Hey... Price is £551.48 - no bundle discount.... so I went back to the page - checked the bundle price - yep still £550.48 so I added it to the basket again - went to the checkout and now I have 2 cameras and 2 cards - all with no discount.
So I deleted the extra items - still no discount and then decided to checkout to see if the discount appeared at any time. Well after the order was places the price was still £551.48.
I went back to the product page and the price of the bundle had changed - to show no discount. Now I thought that it was possibly a caching problem with my browser (I had looked at the product the evening before) - but why would the cache only update after I had purchased the product - not after I had added it to my basket?
Annoying but it's not going to break the bank. I wrote them some feedback pointing out the error and received a standard email which in summary says: Prices can be anything we like on the product page - When you go to the checkout we can ask for something completely different and if you accept that price then that's final"
So in summary - DO NOT TRUST THE PRICING AMAZON SHOW ON THE PRODUCT PAGE - only look at the price at checkout.
I've also had problems with delivery times from the other companies that sell on Amazon - basically the delivery times right up until the confirmation from the supplier can say one thing (e.g. in stock and delivered in 3 working days) and then something completely different on the confirmation, e.g. your parcel has been dispatched (so you can't cancel) and will be delivered in 20-30 days.
Amazon used to be my favourite and most trusted internet shop. They are now falling into the "Watchout - Scammers About" category.
